Another standard at family picnics growing up was Grandma’s tuna macaroni salad. Again, because of the pickles, I didn’t learn to appreciate this recipe until I was an adult.
Prepare according to package directions:
500 g salad macaroni (ditalini)
Blend together in a large bowl:
125 ml mayonnaise
45 ml olive oil
45 ml vinegar
45 ml milk
15 ml sugar
2 ml salt
1 ml pepper
Blend in:
140 g can of tuna, drained
300 g frozen peas, thawed
30 ml sweet relish or finely-chopped sweet pickles
Add pasta, blending well. Refrigerate until serving.
