Named for Taunya’s dear Vietnamese friend Thao, who taught her how to make it, this chicken recipe is simplicity to prepare and divine to consume.
Heat in a large frying pan:
30 ml vegetable oil
Sauté in oil:
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 chicken, cut up
When the chicken is browned, add:
1 350 ml can coconut soda (or equal amount water)
125 ml soy sauce
60 ml sugar
Cover and cook in sauce for about 40 minutes. When 30 minutes have passed, start tasting the sauce and adjust sugar, water and soy sauce, until the sauce tastes right, with enough salty and sweet.
Serve with rice, and spoon sauce over rice liberally.
