Cornbread

Preheat oven to 200.  Grease a 20 cm square pan

Combine in a mixing bowl:
225 ml yellow corn meal
225 ml flour
80 ml granulated sugar
15 ml baking powder
5 ml salt

Blend in a small bowl:
300 ml milk
60ml vegetable oil
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir just until blended.  Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

VARIATIONS: Add 60 ml crumbled bacon, or 30 ml chopped jalapeƱos to the batter.
