Okay, this was once known as an “upside down” cake, but Arami misheard that, and we liked her version of the name so much, we’re sticking with it!
Prepare batter according to the package directions:
1 yellow cake mix
Line the bottom of a cake pan (glass is best) with:
120 g melted butter
175 ml brown sugar
pineapple slices
If desired, place a maraschino cherry into the center of each pineapple slice. Bake the cake according to the package directions. Let cool for 5 minutes, then invert over a serving plate.
